Yellow Archangel (Lamiastrum Galeobdolon) is a perennial forb in the Mint Family (Lamiaceae). It’s native to Europe and Asia, blooms May-Jul and grows 1-2 ft. It tolerates moist to dry soils and full shade to full sun exposure.
Yellow Archangel is an escaped ornamental that is commonly found in patchy colonies in forests and right-of-ways near residential homes. It’s highly invasive and can form large monocultures over time. It takes multiple herbicide applications to eradicate and manual removal only removes the foliage because roots are fragile but well rooted so they brake off. Home owners and nurseries should avoid planting it and look for native alternatives.
