Scotch Broom, also known as Scot’s broom and English Broom (Cytisus Scoparius) is a shrub in the Pea Family (Fabaceae). It’s native to Europe, blooms May-Jun and grows 3-10 ft. It tolerates moist to dry soils and partial shade to full sun exposure.
Scotch Broom it’s a common weed in meadows, savannas, forest edges and openings, grasslands, fields and right-of-ways. It fixes nitrogen, which makes the soil more fertile for other shrubs and forbs.
