California Poppy, also known as Californian Poppy and Golden Poppy (Eschscholzia Californica) is an annual or short-lived perennial forb in the Poppy Family (Papaveraceae). It’s native to the United States and Mexico, blooms Feb-Sep and grows 0.5-1 ft. It tolerates dry soils and full sun exposure.
California Poppy is the state flower of California. It’s commonly found in prairies, meadows, road sides and fields. Some of the biggest populations occur in California’s valleys. It’s used in other parts of the world as an ornamental and it’s got potential to become an invasive specie.
