Sweet Cherry or Wild Cherry (Prunus Avium) is a tree in the Rose Famiy (Rosaceae). It’s native to Europe and Asia, blooms Feb-Apr and grows 40-100 ft. It’s commonly found as a weedy tree in forests and savannas; tolerates moist to dry soils and partial shade to full sun exposure.
Sweet Cherry blooms before and while leafing out, it’s among the first plants to flower. Cherries taste sweet and are edible; leaves and other plant parts are slightly toxic.
