Mouse-ear Chickweed, also known as Common Mouse-ear (Cerastium Fontanum) is a perennial forb in the Pink Family (Caryophyllaceae). It’s native to Europe, blooms Apr-Jun and grows 0.5-1 ft. It tolerates moist to dry soils and partial shade to full sun exposure.
Chickweeds are a common yet unimportant weed in the restoration of savannas, wet prairies and meadows. One reason it’s that is so abundant so control is not possible without harming native forbs. Chickweeds are a common weed in right-of-ways, gardens, grasslands and fields.
