Daffodils (Narcissus) are perennial forbs in the Amaryllis Family (Amaryllidaceae). They are native to Southern Europe and Northern Africa, bloom Mar-May and grow 1-2 ft. Daffodils like moist to dry soils and partial to full sun exposure.
Daffodils have been introduced to many parts of the world as ornamentals for garden beauty. There are many varieties in plant and flower color. Some of the stronger varieties have escaped into the wild and are now growing along streams in forests and in savannas, fields and right-of-ways.
