Pacific Sanicle, also known as Snakeroot and Pacific Black Snakeroot (Sanicula Crassicaulis) is a perennial forb in the Carrot Family (Apiaceae). It’s native to Western North America. Blooms Apr-May and grows 2-4 ft. Commonly found in forests and savannas. Likes moist soils and partial shade/sun exposure.
Pacific Sanicle leaves may look like a deeply lobed heart or a compounded leaf of 3-5 lobes. It’s commonly found near rivers and forest edges.
